Intensive training prepared the team for the skyscraper endurance test
DUBAI – The General Command of Dubai Civil Defence has been officially recognised by Guinness World Records after its firefighters completed the fastest-ever climb of the Burj Khalifa – the world’s tallest tower – in an astonishing 52 minutes and 30 seconds.
A team of three Emirati firefighters scaled all 159 floors of the skyscraper using the stairs while wearing full firefighting suits and oxygen cylinders weighing about 15 kilograms.
The climb tested their stamina and mental strength as they battled rising heat, gravity, and limited oxygen inside their gear.
Record-breaking feat
The final stages of the climb proved the most gruelling, with exhaustion and dehydration pushing the team to their limits. Yet, under full supervision and medical readiness, no incidents occurred.
Videos of the firefighters’ preparation and climb quickly went viral, earning admiration across the UAE and beyond.
The climb was officially verified by Guinness-certified observers, who recorded every step of the attempt in accordance with international standards.
Rigorous training
The record-setting firefighters underwent intensive daily training, including endurance drills, fitness exercises, and high-rise simulations that replicated real emergency conditions.
Officials said the challenge reflected not just physical strength but also the professional readiness of Dubai’s firefighters to respond swiftly in emergencies at towering heights.
The Burj Khalifa, standing over 828 metres tall, continues to represent Dubai’s ambition and innovation.
